About Furry Friends

Furry Friends Animal Rescue was set up in March 2001. It is based in Old Coulsdon, Surrey.Also sometimes using kennels in the Caterham area.

Originally it was a small animal rescue catering for smaller caged animals such as ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters and similar. Over time we started to take in more exotic animals such as chinchillas, degus, spiny mice, multi mammates and occassionally reptiles.

In recent years we have opened our doors to cats and dogs as well, especially those on death row. The public are not aware of how many animals are in danger of euthanasia simply because there are just not enough good homes and spaces in rescue to cope with the amount of unwanted animals there are.

 

It is a homerun rescue meaning that the majority of animals are cared for in the home environment. Any dogs  that are not suitable for living with other pets are boarded in kennels where they continue to be assessed and basic training is put in place.

 

We try as best as we can to match the right animal to the right person and circumstance. However, if anything happens in the new home and the adoptive person cannot keep the animal, we offer backup for all animals that leave our care for life so that they will always have a place to go.

 

Recently we have started to work alongside Niall Lester who runs the same sort of operation in Kent. He also deals with many death row animals and if we don't have what you are looking for it is likely that we know someone who does through other contacts.

My Rescue Prayer

"Now I lay me down to rest
I pray my soul can stand this test
Of watching puppies lose their homes
Through owners gripes and cries and moans

I long for strength of spirit when
I pray they'll find a home again
Where they will know a loving heart
I can't do much, but it's a start........

And spare me from the owners pleas
About the baby's allergies
Or how the place is just a state
Or spitefulness 'tween cat and mate

Please keep me sane while dealing with
The woman who bought as a gift
A wriggling tiny ball of fluff
That now is playing way too rough

Remind me I should bite my lip
When confronted with, "he grew too quick"
"I didn't know he'd get so large"
"He seems to think that he's in charge"

Protect my heart when I hear them say
"I think we'll breed our dog one day"
Sometimes I think it'll break in two
Each day brings trials harsh and new

And if I die before I wake
I pray a hopeless soul you'll take
My tears are gone, my faith is bare
Please hear my rescue prayer."

 

  A small feathered friend Pietro - When he is able to eat for himself then he will be transferred to a slow release home and then he can return to the wild where he belongs

 

 

Furry Friends Animal Rescue is a home run rescue in Old Coulsdon, Surrey. We deal with various types of animals including dogs, cats and smaller caged animals. We are non-destruct and operate a backup for life policy.There is a set adoption fee for all animals and this must be paid before we release the animal for adoption.
